The short verdict: for sublimation, HTVRONT usually gives you more press for the money: a bigger 15 x 15 automatic plate, adjustable pressure on its Auto Heat Press 2, and tumbler presses that fit 10–30 oz cups. Cricut wins if you already work in Design Space and want app-guided settings, Bluetooth and the most foolproof one-button experience, especially for mugs and Infusible Ink.

The HTVRONT vs Cricut heat press question isn't one comparison; it's four. Both brands sell an automatic flat press, a handheld press, a mini press and a mug or tumbler press. Below, we match them up category by category, with the specs each maker publishes.

Figures come from HTVRONT's and Cricut's product pages and listings. Where one maker doesn't publish a number, we say so rather than guess.

1. Automatic flat press: HTVRONT Auto Heat Press 2 vs Cricut AutoPress 2

This is the matchup most people mean by "Cricut AutoPress vs HTVRONT."

Adjustable pressure matters most for tiles, slate and thick hard goods.

Max temperature 410°F (210°C), per Amazon listing 410°F (210°C)
Pressure Adjustable, 20–80 kg Fixed, 110 lb (50 kg)
Thickness Up to 4.5 cm (about 1.8 in) Auto-adjusts up to 1.8 in

Smart features Angle-adjustable screen, auto-release, 15-minute shutdown Bluetooth, four presets, auto-off, insulated base

Plate size. A 15 x 15 plate covers an adult shirt front from a 13 x 19 printer with room around it. A 12 x 12 plate handles letter-size prints and most youth and medium adult designs, but larger fronts need care. If you plan to buy a 13 x 19 printer, the HTVRONT size matters.

Pressure. This is the real split for sublimation. Cricut's fixed 110 lb suits most shirts and flat blanks, and the press adjusts itself to thickness. HTVRONT lets you set pressure from 20 to 80 kg, and pitches it directly at sublimation users who struggle with too little pressure on hard goods. If you press tiles, slate, hardboard or thick panels, adjustable pressure is worth having. Our heat press pressure guide explains why.

Workflow. The AutoPress 2 sends settings from your phone and stores four presets, which is handy if you follow the Cricut Heat Guide. HTVRONT's press has no app; you enter time and temperature on the angled screen.

HTVRONT also still sells its original Auto Heat Press 15 x 15: a 410°F (210°C) maximum, a pull-out drawer, 15-minute auto-off, 1500W and 36 lb. It doesn't publish a pressure figure for that model, which is why we lean to the Auto Heat Press 2 for hard goods. Both are covered in our auto heat press roundup.

2. Handheld: HTVRONT H10 vs Cricut EasyPress 3

HTVRONT H10 Cricut EasyPress 3
Plate 12 x 10 in, ceramic-coated aluminum 12 x 10 in (9 x 9 also sold)
Temperature 210–400°F (100–205°C) Up to 400°F (205°C)
Pressure feedback Built-in sensor, 9–100 lb (4–45 kg) live readout None; your arm
App No Cricut Heat app over Bluetooth; activation required
Weight 8.16 lb Light and portable

Both reach 400°F and both cover letter-size prints, so both work for sublimation on shirts, totes and pillow covers. The difference is what helps you get it right.

The H10's pressure readout tells you whether you're pressing hard enough, which is the biggest weakness of any handheld press. Dual handles help keep pressure even, and a memory mode keeps your last settings. Note that the Standard Kit doesn't include a mat, tape or PTFE sheet.

The EasyPress 3 leans on Cricut's Heat app, which suggests settings by material and updates firmware. If you use Cricut materials, that guidance is useful. You do have to activate it in the app before first use.

Cricut's EasyPress SE is the cheaper, app-free option in both 12 x 10 and 9 x 9 sizes, also rated up to 400°F. Our Cricut EasyPress vs heat press guide explains when a handheld is enough and when it isn't.

3. Mini press: HTVRONT Mini2 vs Cricut EasyPress Mini

This one is clear-cut for sublimation. The Cricut EasyPress Mini has a 3 x 2-inch ceramic-coated plate and three heat settings up to 400°F (205°C), and Cricut lists it as compatible with sublimation. The HTVRONT Mini2 tops out at 356°F (180°C) on its high setting, below the roughly 385–400°F most sublimation blanks need.

For small sublimation jobs, only the EasyPress Mini gets hot enough.

The Mini2 is fine for HTV touch-ups. For small sublimation jobs like patches and shoe panels, pick the Cricut. More options are in our mini heat press guide.

4. Mug and tumbler: HTVRONT tumbler presses vs Cricut Mug Press

The Cricut Mug Press is built around one button: load the mug, press start, and the press applies its own settings. Cricut says generic poly-coated sublimation mugs are likely to work if they're 10–16 oz with a smooth straight pressing area, 3.2–3.4 inches (82–86 mm) in diameter and no taller than 4.72 inches (120 mm). It needs activation through Cricut's software at setup.

The HTVRONT Auto Tumbler Heat Press 120V takes 10–30 oz cups with a maximum diameter of 2.95–3.18 inches, runs up to 390°F (200°C) and 600 seconds, and applies pressure based on the cup's diameter. The A200 adds swappable heat plates and automatic pressure of 45–155 lb.

In short: Cricut is easier for standard mugs; HTVRONT does mugs and tumblers. We cover this matchup in detail in Cricut Mug Press vs HTVRONT.

5. Hat press

HTVRONT's A300 Auto Hat Heat Press lists 104–410°F, a 1–999 second timer, at least 80 kg (176 lb) of pressure, two hat platens and an automatic lift. As of October 2026, Cricut's US heat press pages list the EasyPress, EasyPress Mini, AutoPress and Mug Press, but not the Hat Press, so HTVRONT is the practical choice for new hat presses. See our hat heat press guide.

Ecosystem: app vs display

Cricut connects its presses to the Cricut Heat app and Heat Guide, which give settings by material and blank. If you mostly use Cricut Infusible Ink, Cricut blanks and Cricut sublimation paper, that saves guesswork.

HTVRONT presses have no app. You enter time and temperature from the blank maker's instructions or a time and temperature chart. For sublimation, where every blank maker publishes its own settings, that's not much of a handicap.

Materials cross over freely. A heat press only supplies heat, time and pressure, so Cricut materials work in HTVRONT presses and vice versa, as long as the press reaches the required temperature.

Choose HTVRONT if…

  • You sublimate hard goods and want adjustable pressure.
  • You want a 15 x 15 plate for full adult fronts.
  • You press tumblers, not just mugs.
  • You want a hat press.
  • You don't need an app to tell you settings.

Choose Cricut if…

  • You already use Design Space and Cricut materials.
  • You want app-guided settings and Bluetooth.
  • You mostly press standard 11 and 15 oz mugs and want one-button results.
  • You need a mini press that reaches 400°F.
  • A 12 x 12 plate covers your largest prints.

How we compared

We didn't test these presses ourselves. We compared HTVRONT's and Cricut's product pages and Amazon listings for plate size, temperature range, pressure, thickness, loading and software, and checked Cricut's current US heat press lineup. We also weighed recurring owner feedback from sublimation and Cricut communities. Where one brand doesn't publish a spec, such as pressure on the original HTVRONT Auto Heat Press, we say so instead of filling the gap.

FAQ

Is HTVRONT better than Cricut for heat presses?

For sublimation on a budget, HTVRONT usually gives you more: a larger 15 x 15 auto press, adjustable 20–80 kg pressure on the Auto Heat Press 2, and tumbler presses that take 10–30 oz cups. Cricut is better if you live in Design Space and want app-guided settings, Bluetooth and a polished, one-button experience.

Cricut AutoPress 2 vs HTVRONT Auto Heat Press 2: which should I buy?

The HTVRONT Auto Heat Press 2 has a bigger 15 x 15 plate and pressure you can set from 20 to 80 kg, which helps thick sublimation blanks. The Cricut AutoPress 2 has a 12 x 12 plate, fixed 110 lb pressure, Bluetooth and four presets. Both list 410°F. Choose HTVRONT for size and pressure control, Cricut for app integration.

Can you use HTVRONT heat presses with Cricut materials?

Yes. A heat press only supplies heat, pressure and time, so Cricut Infusible Ink, iron-on and sublimation paper all work in an HTVRONT press if it reaches the temperature in Cricut's Heat Guide. You just enter the time and temperature yourself instead of getting them from the Cricut Heat app.

Is the HTVRONT mini press good for sublimation?

Not the Mini2. HTVRONT lists its highest setting at 356°F (180°C), below the roughly 385–400°F most sublimation blanks call for. Cricut's EasyPress Mini reaches 400°F (205°C), and HTVRONT's H10 handheld reaches 400°F with a 12 x 10 plate.

Do Cricut heat presses need an app?

The EasyPress 3 must be activated in the Cricut Heat app before first use, and the Mug Press needs activation through Cricut's software at setup. The AutoPress 2 uses Bluetooth to send settings from your phone and stores four presets. HTVRONT presses don't use an app; you set time and temperature on the display.

Verdict

If sublimation is your main craft, HTVRONT is the better-value brand: the Auto Heat Press 2 gives you a bigger plate and real pressure control, and its tumbler presses cover more cups. Stay with Cricut if your workflow already runs through Design Space and you want app-guided, one-button pressing, and pick the EasyPress Mini over HTVRONT's Mini2 for small sublimation jobs.
