An 8.5-inch sublimation printer handles mugs, tumblers and chest logos, but not a full adult shirt front, a pillow cover or a gang sheet. That's where a wide format sublimation printer comes in. In sublimation, "wide format" covers two steps: 11 x 17 and 13 x 19-inch desktop printers, and 24-inch roll printers.

Choosing between them comes down to the size of your biggest print, how many you make, and whether you need a factory warranty. Below are the wide format options a US seller can buy, from a converted EcoTank to Epson's 24-inch F570, plus a note on Epson's upcoming 13 x 19 model.

Quick picks

  • Epson SureColor F570 Pro – Best 24-inch wide format. Roll printing up to 24.4 inches, a built-in cutter and Epson's sublimation warranty.
  • Sawgrass SG1000 – Best 13 x 19 desktop. 11 x 17 in the main tray, 13 x 19 with the bypass tray, and a 3-year warranty.
  • Epson EcoTank ET-15000 – Best budget 13 x 19. The cheapest route to 13 x 19 sublimation, as a one-way conversion.
  • Cosmos Ink WorkForce Conversion Kit – Best for an unused WorkForce. Refillable cartridges and sublimation ink for specific WF models.
  • Epson SureColor F370 (coming) – Worth waiting for if you want a factory 13 x 19 Epson. Announced for November 2026.

The best wide format sublimation printers, reviewed

1. Epson SureColor F570 Pro: Best 24-Inch Wide Format

Who it's for: shops printing full shirt fronts, all-over panels, gang sheets, banners and pillow covers every week.

The F570 prints rolls and sheets up to 24.4 inches wide at up to 2400 x 1200 dpi, with a PrecisionCore MicroTFP head and Variable Droplet Technology. Roll media goes up to 24.4 inches wide on a 2-inch core, a built-in rotary cutter trims prints automatically, and an auto sheet feeder takes sheets up to 11.7 inches wide. The Pro edition bundles Epson Edge Print Pro RIP software for color management and layout.

It uses the same 140 mL T49M ink bottles as Epson's desktop F170, so ink cost per print is reasonable at volume. Epson's standard warranty includes next-business-day on-site repair. At 84 lb without its stand and a price in the thousands, it's a business purchase, and stock moves through Epson's reseller network. Our Epson F570 review covers it in depth.

Pros

  • 24.4-inch roll printing with an auto cutter
  • Factory sublimation ink and warranty
  • Large 140 mL ink bottles

Cons

  • Premium price tier
  • 84 lb; needs floor or stand space
  • 13-inch minimum roll width

2. Sawgrass SG1000: Best 13 x 19 Desktop

Who it's for: shirt and tote sellers who need adult-size prints but don't have room for a 24-inch machine.

The SG1000 takes 11 x 17-inch (Tabloid/A3) paper in its main tray and 13 x 19 inches with the bypass tray; retailer JP Plus lists up to 13 x 51 inches through the bypass. It's the only Sawgrass desktop that accepts 70 mL extended cartridges, and JP Plus lists a High Speed mode at about 15 seconds per print. Sawgrass Print Utility and the MySawgrass Design Tool handle color, so you aren't hunting for ICC profiles.

You choose SubliJet UHD or VersiFlex ink at setup and can't switch later. For printers bought on or after October 1, 2025, Sawgrass covers the SG1000 for 3 years or 100,000 prints. It measures 21 x 14.25 x 8.5 inches, so it still fits on a desk. Compare it with the SG500 in our Sawgrass SG500 vs SG1000 guide.

Pros

  • 11 x 17 and 13 x 19 on a desktop
  • Color handled by Sawgrass software
  • Longest warranty here

Cons

  • Cartridge ink costs more per mL than bottles
  • Premium price for a desktop
  • 13 x 19 needs the bypass tray

3. Epson EcoTank ET-15000: Best Budget 13 x 19

Who it's for: hobbyists and side sellers who want 13 x 19 prints for the lowest upfront cost and accept the risks.

The ET-15000 takes 13 x 19-inch sheets through its rear specialty feed and has a 250-sheet front tray for letter-size jobs. It connects by Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct and Ethernet. Bought new and filled with sublimation ink from day one, it's the cheapest way to print a full adult shirt front on one sheet. Cosmos Ink, Hiipoo and A-SUB list it as compatible with their sublimation inks.

The trade-offs are the usual conversion ones. Epson states that non-genuine ink damage isn't covered by its warranty, the conversion is permanent, and you manage ICC profiles yourself. With Epson's factory F370 due in November 2026, compare the two before you buy. Our Epson EcoTank sublimation printer guide covers ink and setup.

Pros

  • 13 x 19 at the lowest cost here
  • Refillable tanks for cheap bulk ink
  • 250-sheet front tray for everyday jobs

Cons

  • No warranty protection for ink damage
  • One-way conversion
  • Color profiles are your job

4. Cosmos Ink WorkForce Conversion Kit: Best for an Unused WorkForce

Who it's for: owners of a new, never-used Epson WorkForce from Cosmos's compatibility list.

Cosmos sells a conversion kit for the Epson WF-7710, WF-7720, WF-7610, WF-7620, WF-7110, WF-7210, WF-3640 and WF-3620. It includes four new refillable cartridges, syringes and needles, and four 100 mL bottles of CMYK sublimation ink formatted so color profiles aren't needed. Several of those WorkForce models are Epson's wide-format line, so check your model's maximum sheet size in its manual.

The same rules as an EcoTank apply: new printer only, a one-way conversion, and no warranty protection for ink damage. Some of these WorkForce models are older, so availability of the printer itself varies. If you're buying new, the ET-15000 is simpler.

Pros

  • Turns a compatible WorkForce into a sublimation printer
  • Ink formatted to skip ICC profiles
  • 100 mL bottles included

Cons

  • Listed models only
  • Cartridge refilling is fiddly
  • No warranty protection after conversion

Coming soon: Epson SureColor F370

Epson announced the SureColor F370 in September 2026, with availability in November 2026. It prints 13 x 19 inches, with a 150-sheet 8.5-inch cassette plus a 15-sheet 13 x 19 tray, and shares the F170's headline print specs (784 nozzles, up to 1200 x 600 dpi, T49M ink). It adds a guided touchscreen setup and transfer paper modes for fabrics and hard goods, and Epson prices it in a higher tier than the F170.

If you want a factory 13 x 19 printer with Epson's warranty and bottle ink, it's worth comparing with the SG1000 once it ships.

Transfer Express, a large transfer printer, uses 11 x 11 inches as its standard adult front. Our guide to what size sublimation for shirts has sizes for every placement.

Sheet versus roll

Desktop printers (SG1000, ET-15000) print cut sheets, which is simple and fine for a few dozen shirts a day. Roll printers (F570) print continuous lengths you cut to size, which wastes less paper on gang sheets and long prints and suits production.

Factory system or conversion

Factory printers (Epson F-series, Sawgrass) come with sublimation ink, driver profiles and a warranty that covers sublimation. Conversions (ET-15000, WorkForce kits) cost far less upfront, but you handle profiles and accept that ink damage isn't covered.

Ink cost

Bottles beat cartridges on cost per milliliter. Epson's T49M bottles are 140 mL each; Sawgrass's largest SG1000 cartridge is 70 mL. For converted printers, third-party bottles are cheapest.

Match your heat press

Wide prints need a wide press. A 13 x 19 sheet needs a 16 x 20 press to fit in one pressing, and 24-inch roll prints often need larger. Our what size heat press do I need guide covers the pairing, and our sublimation printer for shirts roundup focuses on apparel.

Space and power

A 13 x 19 desktop fits on a sturdy desk. A 24-inch printer needs floor space or its stand, plus room for rolls to feed and exit.

Running costs and workflow at wide widths

Wide prints use a lot more ink and paper per job than mug wraps, so running cost decides more than the sticker price over a year.

Cut sheetRollwastecut hereOne print per sheet;the rest is wastedGang designs, cutonly what you use
At wide widths, paper waste and ink per print matter more than the printer price.
  • Ink per print. A full 11 x 11 adult front covers well over half again the area of a 20 oz tumbler wrap. On a cartridge printer, that adds up quickly; on bottle systems like the F570's 140 mL T49M bottles or a converted ET-15000, it's far cheaper per print.
  • Paper waste. Cut sheets waste the unprinted part of each sheet. Roll printing lets you gang designs and cut only what you use.
  • Profiles and RIP software. Factory drivers (Epson, Sawgrass) handle color for you. The F570 Pro's bundled Epson Edge Print Pro RIP adds layout tools such as nesting several designs on one roll. Converted printers rely on the ink maker's ICC profiles.
  • Maintenance. Sublimation printers like regular use. A wide printer that sits idle for weeks is more likely to need head cleaning, which wastes ink. Print a small nozzle check or test image a few times a week if your orders are slow.

How we chose

We didn't test these printers ourselves. We compared manufacturer specifications from Epson and Sawgrass and compatibility lists from Cosmos Ink, Hiipoo and A-SUB for print width, media handling, ink system and warranty, and checked availability with US retailers. We also weighed recurring owner feedback from sublimation communities. Announced products are labeled as announced, with the date the maker gave.

FAQ

What sublimation printer prints 13x19?

The Sawgrass SG1000 prints 13 x 19 inches with its bypass tray, and a converted Epson EcoTank ET-15000 takes 13 x 19 sheets through its rear specialty feed. Epson has also announced the SureColor F370, a factory 13 x 19-inch sublimation printer, for November 2026.

What is the best large format sublimation printer for a small business?

For roll printing and shirt fronts at volume, the 24-inch Epson SureColor F570 is the usual step up: it prints rolls and sheets up to 24.4 inches wide with a built-in cutter and Epson's sublimation warranty. If you don't need roll printing, a 13 x 19 desktop like the Sawgrass SG1000 costs less and takes less space.

Is there a sublimation printer that prints 11x17?

Yes. The Sawgrass SG1000 takes 11 x 17-inch (Tabloid/A3) paper in its main tray, and 13 x 19 with its bypass tray. Any 13 x 19 printer also handles 11 x 17 sheets.

Do I need a bigger heat press for a wide format printer?

Usually. A 13 x 19 print needs a 16 x 20 press to fit in one pressing, and 24-inch roll prints for oversized designs need a 16 x 20 or larger press. Our heat press size guide matches presses to print sizes.

Can I convert a wide format printer to sublimation?

Only an Epson piezo-head printer that has never used regular ink, such as a new EcoTank ET-15000. Conversion is one-way, and Epson states that damage from non-genuine ink isn't covered by its warranty.

Verdict

For production, the Epson SureColor F570 Pro is the best wide format sublimation printer: 24-inch rolls, an auto cutter and a factory warranty. For a desktop, the Sawgrass SG1000 is the safest 13 x 19 option today, and the converted ET-15000 is the budget route if you accept the risk. If you want a factory Epson at 13 x 19, the F370 arrives in November 2026.
